BAWA Leisure, Filton, Bristol

Artworks Solutions transformed this multi-functional facility for the Bristol Aerospace Welfare Association. Steeped in history, what started out as a sporting facility is now host to weddings, concerts, corporate events and more. We worked with one of their trusted suppliers, interior architects Wydle IA, the project was such a success it was nominated for a Bristol Property Award.

Alto baffles

From an interior that was dated and well-worn, the project refreshed and linked rooms such as the Concorde and Ballroom, right through to the reception. A bold, blue colour scheme ran through hundreds of linear meters of shaker-style panelling that we built, sprayed and installed on site. Hundreds of Alto baffles dampened any echoes and our external wayfinding provided visitor guidance.

We work alongside Artworks Solutions to implement artwork, signage and acoustic elements throughout our projects. Here at our project for BAWA Leisure a universally interchangeable Alto Blade acoustics system was introduced for added décor, along with solutions to sound reverberation.

Fabric walling system

Working hand in hand with several other trades on site, an installation taking place during lockdown had its challenges! Despite this, we were proud to deliver a vast quantity of treatments, including linear acoustic ceiling rafts in the Concorde Room that incorporated the lighting. In celebration of their heritage, we produced a timeline using images from their story to guide visitors through the different areas. The 40+ linear meters of fabric walling we provided in the ballroom worked seamlessly with the Art Deco style.
